During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on many important issues: experiences in planning, managing, and operating marinas and tourist ports; models of cooperation between the government and businesses in investing in and operating infrastructure; and the development of logistics and commercial services associated with marinas to enhance the added value of the industry.
In addition, the two sides exchanged experiences in organizing large-scale sailing races and maritime events, from infrastructure preparation and safety assurance to operation, mobilization of social resources, and promotion of local image. Furthermore, they discussed the possibility of cooperation in human resource training, sharing destination management experiences, connecting businesses, and promoting investment in related fields.
Following the working session, the delegation visited and surveyed Cité de la Voile Eric Tabarly and Maison des Skippers (located within the Lorient La Base complex – an area renovated from a former military base into a leading maritime economic, tourism, and sports center in France) to learn about the operation of maritime cultural and sports institutions, the application of technology in exhibitions, maritime education, and support for organizing international sailing races. Built in 2008 on the site of a former German submarine base from World War II, Cité de la Voile Eric Tabarly is currently the only multimedia exhibition center in Europe specializing in ocean sailing. Named after the legendary navigator Eric Tabarly, the center showcases the history, shipbuilding techniques, and culture of ocean sailing through interactive models, attracting tens of thousands of visitors annually. Not far from there is Maison des Skippers, a facility spanning over 3,000 square meters, housing training services, offices, and logistics specifically for captains and professional racing crews from international racing classes such as IMOCA and Figaro.
