Amidst the hustle and bustle of modern life, as technology increasingly permeates every aspect of daily existence, folk games and traditional handicrafts often seem relegated to distant memories. Yet, many young people today are constantly innovating to breathe new life into age-old values, bringing the beauty of national culture closer to the community. Exemplifying this spirit is Mr. Truong Thanh Vu (affectionately known as "Anh Bay"), a native of the South Central Coast, who has dedicated nearly a decade of passion to reviving and elevating the rustic art of coconut leaf weaving.

From humble coconut fronds bound up with childhood memories through figures of grasshoppers, locusts, or leaf hats, Mr. Vu has continuously explored and refined techniques to create larger-scale pieces with diverse shapes infused with contemporary artistic flair. Going beyond handcrafting alone, he keenly leverages the power of the digital era to tell the story of his craft through short videos and live streams on social media platforms such as TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram. Thanks to this youthful and vibrant medium, coconut leaf weaving not only captivates domestic youth but also serves as a distinctive cultural highlight, leaving a profound impression on international tourists.

Alongside his creative pursuits, Mr. Truong Thanh Vu devotes substantial time to hosting hands-on workshops, directly guiding children and craft enthusiasts in crafting simple items from their homeland's coconut fronds. Through these sessions, he passes on more than a weaving skill—he imparts a meaningful message advocating a green, sustainable lifestyle in harmony with nature. The persistent journey of the younger generation in weaving new vitality into coconut leaves continues to preserve and promote the charm of Vietnamese folk culture naturally and sustainably in contemporary life.
