On the occasion of the 79th anniversary of Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 – July 27, 2026), heroic memories of a difficult yet glorious time in the nation's history echo once again through the accounts of historical witnesses. To preserve and spread these sacred values, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union implemented the project "Stories of the Fiery Years" nationwide. In Khanh Hoa province, the Provincial Youth Union quickly materialized the project through practical activities, encouraging youth union members and teenagers to meet, record, and film authentic stories from living witnesses of the two great resistance wars.
One of the most moving experiences of the journey was the meeting with Mrs. Cao Thi Xien, a former youth volunteer in Trung commune, Khanh Vinh district. Under the cool shade of an ancient Co-nia tree, memories of arduous days at the Hon Du resistance base came back as vivid as ever. Relying on her intimate knowledge of the rugged mountain trails, Mrs. Xien repeatedly crossed rushing streams to carry baskets of provisions through the dark night to supply Uncle Ho's soldiers. In addition to listening directly, the youth accessed rich historical documents by scanning QR codes at red address sites, bringing to life the image of the Hon Du base—a place marking numerous glorious exploits of Khanh Hoa's army and people.
The "Stories of the Fiery Years" project is implemented continuously from July 2025 to July 2026, focusing on key historical figures such as Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, wounded and sick soldiers, and former youth volunteers. Proactively meeting, filming, and digitizing these materials not only preserves the priceless memories of previous generations but also serves as an effective method of educating revolutionary traditions. Through this, today's younger generation gains a deeper understanding of the sacrifices made by their forefathers, cultivating national pride and a clear sense of responsibility to carry forward this noble tradition and dedicate their youth to building and protecting the Fatherland.
